National FFA Week in South Carolina

South Carolina’s Ag Commissioner, Hugh Weathers was excited to see all the FFA delegates in Columbia last week during¬† National FFA Week.¬† About 1,000 of the state’s 7,500 members came to the state capitol to talk to legislators at the state’s General Assembly.

FFA is much more than just teaching young people how to farm, students study agricultural curriculum from forestry and natural resources, agriculture mechanics, horticulture, animal science, biosystems technology and aquaculture just to name a few.

FFA Week has been celebrated during the week of George Washington’s birthday since 1948.

A native of the Texas Panhandle, Rhonda was born and raised on a cotton farm where she saw cotton farming evolve from ditch irrigation to center pivot irrigation and harvest trailers to modules. After graduating from Texas Tech University, she got her start in radio with KGNC News Talk 710 in Amarillo, Texas.
