Exactly 523 large and small organizations, businesses and landowners across the U.S. signed a letter asking congressional leaders not to cut more funding from the farm bill’s Conservation Title. The letter states Conservation Title programs already have been cut significantly through annual appropriations processes since the 2008 Farm Bill was enacted. It also states the cuts have had real, unfortunate impacts on the ground. More cuts would mean the Title is contributing more than its fair share to budget deficit reduction – according to the signatories. They say maintaining, strengthening and providing sufficient funding for the Conservation Title programs will deliver multiple benefits for every region of America – helping America’s farmers, ranchers and landowners stay on the land as stewards of the country’s natural resources.
