Make Sure You’re Counted

Once every five years, the USDA-National Ag Statistics Service conducts a census of America’s farms and ranches.

South Carolina’s Ag Commissioner, Hugh Weathers says this is a complete count of America’s farms and ranches, and the data compiled goes into decision-making for farm programs, infrastructure and the like.

New this year will be an online component, beginning this month, farmers can go online to fill out the questionnaire there, or they will be mailed at the end of the year.

A native of the Texas Panhandle, Rhonda was born and raised on a cotton farm where she saw cotton farming evolve from ditch irrigation to center pivot irrigation and harvest trailers to modules.
