Livestock Numbers Light Moving Through Auctions

At the weekly livestock auction held Tuesday at Mount Airy a total of 373 cattle and 58 goats were sold.  Slaughter cows trended mostly steady, feeder steers trended higher, and heifers trended mixed when compared to the previous sale.

N.C. Eggs:  The market is higher on all sizes. Supplies are moderate.  Retail demand is moderate.  Weighted average prices for small lot sales of grade A eggs delivered to nearby retail outlets: Extra Large 150.84, Large 146.18, Medium 139.08, and Small 115.00.

Blueberries: demand moderate. Market is about steady.. Flats 12 1-pt cups med-large 18.00-19.00

Strawberries: supply light. Demand moderate. Market is about steady. Some shippers are finished for the season.  Flats 8 1-lb containers med-large 13.00-14.00

No. 2 yellow shelled corn trended 3 cents higher when compared to last report.  Prices ranged $4.97-$5.42 at feed mills and $4.82-5.42 at elevators.  No. 1 yellow soybeans trended 9 cents higher and were $15.47 at processors, and $14.83-$15.43 at elevators.  No. 2 red winter wheat was 3 cents higher and was $4.42-$4.92 at the elevators.  Soybean meal, f.o.b. at processing plants, was $578.50 per ton for 48% protein.
