Let’s Talk Turkey

Thanksgiving is here and it’s time to talk turkeys again.  South carolina’s Ag Commissioner Hugh Weathers  says that turkeys are the number two ag commodity in the state, who along with their other poultry brethren have a value of $1.7 billion annual to the state’s ag economy.

Prestage Farms and Circle S Ranch are the state’s largest turkey companies.  The majority of turkeys grown in the state come from the same general area of Kershaw County, the leader in poultry production, followed by Lancaster, Chesterfield, Lee and Newberry counties.


A native of the Texas Panhandle, Rhonda was born and raised on a cotton farm where she saw cotton farming evolve from ditch irrigation to center pivot irrigation and harvest trailers to modules. After graduating from Texas Tech University, she got her start in radio with KGNC News Talk 710 in Amarillo, Texas.
