On September 19th and 20th Clemson University, Francis Marion University, and Florence-Darlington Technical College will be hosting the BioEnterprises and I95 Rural Economic Development Summit in Florence, SC. This 2-day, event will focus on attracting new bio- and agricultural based industries to the I95 Corridor such as those associated with advanced bioenergy technologies, new crops, and new bioproducts. Part of the Summit will be held at each of the three universities.
The Summit will highlight important issues affecting rural economic development: the changes in agriculture/forestry that are occurring nationally and globally; what new industries, technologies, and scientific breakthroughs are on the horizon; defining South Carolina’s strengths and successes compared to other states; and finally, the development of a strategy to actively recruit new industries to the I95 Coastal Plain. The Summit will feature renowned speakers from across the US for each of the topics.
