Economist Mike Walden: Is there Hope for Controlling Health Care Costs?

There’s an old saying in sports about superb players – you can’t stop them, you just want to control them.  We could say the same today about health care costs – we can’t stop them from rising; instead, we just want to control the rise.  Is there any hope in accomplishing this?

  1. some say there is, based on technology and nutrition
  2. we may have our vital signs taken and medicine administered daily by                sensors – give heads-up on problems before crucial and avoid missed meds
  3. more remote medical procedures will be performed – avoiding costly trips       to doctor and hospital
  4. nutrition will improve – more good things that taste good to keep us               healthier
  5. all will save money
