Daily Market Highlights For SFN

Broiler-Fryers:  The North Carolina broiler-fryer market was steady and the live supply was

adequate to meet the moderate demand.  Average weights were heavy.  The estimated slaughter for Wednesday in North Carolina was 2,981,000 head compared to 2,897,000 head last Wednesday.

 

Eggs:  The market is lower on all sizes.  Supplies are moderate.  Retail demand is good.  Weighted average prices for small lot sales of grade A eggs delivered to nearby retail outlets: Extra Large 131.59, Large 129.26, Medium 87.03, and Small 80.00.

 

Cotton:  The strict-low middling one and one sixteenth Southeast average price is 65.47 cents per

pound; the U.S. average is 62.62 cents per pound.

 

Grain:  U.S. 2 yellow shelled corn was mostly 3 to 4 cents lower when compared to last report.  Prices ranged $3.99-$4.54 at feed mills and $3.79-$4.34 at elevators; new crop $3.83-$4.53. 

U.S. 1 yellow soybeans were mostly 4 to 5 cents higher; prices were $8.75 at the processors and ranged $8.25-$8.66 at the elevators; new crop $8.78-$8.93.  U.S. 2 soft red winter wheat was mostly 3 cents lower; prices were $4.39 at the feed mills and $4.09-$4.14 at the elevators; new crop $4.24-$4.51.  Soybean meal, f.o.b. at processing plants, was $305.80 per ton for 48% protein.
