The statistics for North Carolina agriculture in 2010 are in, and farm income soared to more than $9.6 billion, which is an increase of more than $400 million over 2010.  NC Ag Commissioner Steve Troxler says that net farm income in NC rose more than 18 percent to $3.3 billion.

Some other interesting facts:  livestock, dairy and poultry accounted for nearly 66 percent of farm cash receipts in the state and row crops made up the other 34 percent.

The state's top commodity continues to be broilers at $2.6 billion, followed by hogs at $2.2 billion, and the state's top crop continued to be greenhouse and nursery at almost $765 million.
