NASDA Discusses Guest Worker Program

Recently, NC Ag Commissioner Steve Troxler traveled to Salt Lake City, Utah to particiapte in the fall meeting of the National Association of State Departments of Agriculture (NASDA).  One of the topics of discussion was the 2012 Farm Bill, supporting the Specialty Crop Block Grant Program, and funding of the USDA Market Access Program; as well as consoloidation of some federal programs within the Conservation Title and Plant Pest & Disease Management funding. 

As well as Farm Bill priorities, the commissioners discussed the reform of the guest worker program.  North Carolina ranks in the top 10 states where agriculture industry relies on migrant labor.
