Farmland Preservation Trust Fund Recieves Grant Money despite Budget Woes | | | Program 5602 (download mp3)

NC Ag Commissioner Steve Troxler says that in spite of this year's budget woes, the Farmland Preservation Trust fund managed a $1.8 million grant this year. This money will go to 19 projects in 36 counties in the state, including an additional 740 acres of farm and forest land in NC preserved through conservation easements. Trust fund grants will also help several counties develop farmland protection plans or beef up their Voluntary Ag District programs.
