Posted on Tue, Jul 12, 2011

Ag Commissioner Troxler discusses the legislative impact on the recently passed House Bill 119, which mostly amended several environmental laws, including the law governing contruction of dams and ponds.  In the old law, the dam could be no more than 15' high and could cover no more than 10 acre feet of water.  The amendment brough NC more into line with the Viriginia and South Carolina pond laws.

Commissioner Troxler believes the House Bill 119 will be beneficial to the agriculture community in many ways as we all face the effects of drought and higher demands on our water resources.
