North Carolina's Ag Commissioner Steve Troxler announces that the Best Dish in NC finalists have been selected.  There are 26 restaurants across the state that have been selected to compete in either Fine Dining or Casual Dining in two regions:   Eastern Piedmont/Coastal, and Western Piedmont/Mountains.  All judging is anonymous.

The finalists were chosen based on their proposed menus and marketing plans for promoting their menus.  Chefs were allowed to enter a combination of dishes, such as an appetizer with a main dish or dessert.  Contestants are required to feature the dish or combination of courses in their restaurant for at least a four-week period between the first of May and the end of September.  During this time, a judge will visit each finalist to sample the entries and judge east restaurant on its use of North Carolina products, creativity, presentation, taste and promotions.  Winners will be announced in November.
