The NC Department of Agriculture and Consumer Serives is sponsoring three food shows to highlight farmers who sell directly to the public. The Dig Into Local Food Shows will be held Saturday, April 9th, from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm at the Azalea Festival in Wilmington. Also on Saturday the 9th, from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm at the Western North Carolina Farmers' Market in Asheville, then the third show will take place on Saturday, April 16th, from 11:00 to 3:00 pm outside the Hayes Performing Arts Center in Blowing Rock.
These shows are specifically targeted for local farmers who sell directly to the public through farmers' markets, Community Supported Agriculture subscriptions, and online sales in an effort to emphasize the wide range of products coming from farms in different areas of the states. These products include locally grown fruits, vegetables, meats, honey and other items.
