NC Ag Commissioner Steve Troxler is quite pleased that the Department of the Navy has suspended their Outlying Landing Field (OLF) project. A site in eastern North Carolina and a site in southeastern Virginia were on the short list for the Naval avaiation practice landing strip. Troxler says that if the Navy had decided on the NC location, 1,300 acres of prime farm land would have been permenantly removed from production, as well as the potential economic devistation of three eastern NC counties: Gates, Currituck, and Camden.
