This year's Thanksgiving Dinner, according to American Farm Bureau Federation's annual informal survey has increased dramatically over previous years, and SC Ag Commissioner Hugh Weathers says it's still a bargain at an estimated $49.20 to feed 10 people. The biggest increase occured with the cost of the turkey, and the dairy products, both produced with grain involved. The cost of corn is high, and of course corn is the staple of the diet of both cows and poultry, hence the increase in those products. Weathers explains that it's a classic supply/demand issue, with more demand for grain, especially corn, the supply is less, therefore the price is higher.
