Commissioner Weathers Promotes Healthy Snacks

SC Commissioner of Agriculture, Hugh Weathers explains that Super Bowl Sunday kicked off National Snack Month, and SC Department of Agriculture would like to remind people that SC Agriculture offers plenty of healthy, home-grown snacks! 

Sadly, SC has the 5th highest percent of obese adults and the 13th highest percentage of obese and overweight children ages 10-17 in the nation.  Mr. Weathers emphasizes that healthy eating habits to avoid these problems start at home, and with parents. 

SC Department of Agriculture is working to get healthy, locally grown snacks into  snack machines in schools across the state to help teach kids that snacking healthy can also be tasty!
