COLUMBIA, S.C. -The spring is a great time to get out into your yard or garden armed with new plants and flowers from the Midland's Plant and Flower Festival. The Spring Plant and Flower Festival held annually at the South Carolina State Farmers Market in West Columbia will run April 19-22.

This four-day Plant and Flower Festival is the highlight of the spring as thousands of visitors from all over the state and region descend on the market looking for plants and flowers for their home gardens. Because of the wide variety of plants and lawn and garden décor for sale, visitors are encouraged to bring along a wagon or cart to carry their purchases. And comfortable shoes are a must!

"This is our signature event at the market and really kicks off our summer season," said South Carolina Commissioner of Agriculture Hugh Weathers. "Every year the turnout is even greater than the year before because it's a great place to find just what you need your lawn and garden."

The Market is located at 3483 Charleston Highway in West Columbia, convenient to Interstates 26 and 77, and as always the admission and parking are free. The hours are 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday. The festival will be held, rain or shine, at the State Farmers Market.

Exhibitors are on hand selling a wide variety of plants, flowers, and yard décor. There will also be a booth for Clemson Extension's Master Gardeners to answer gardening questions, and members of the South Carolina Specialty Food Association selling their Certified SC products.
