The National Weather Service has issued frost advisories and freeze watches for much of South Carolina as colder area from Canada moves into the state.

The advisories are in effect for overnight Wednesday and into Thursday morning.

The frost advisories are in effect from the Savannah River valley northeast across the Midlands to North Carolina state line. The advisory means temperatures could drop to between 34 and 37 degrees with colder temperatures.

The freeze watch is in effect for the Pee Dee as well as the mountains and foothills of the state. Temperatures could dip into the lower 30s.

Forecasters are warning about damage to plants and crops with the arrival of the unseasonable colder weather.
