SC Agricultural Council to hold Spring Agricultural Tour

The South Carolina Agricultural Council is holding its Spring Agricultural Tour on Tuesday, April 24, 2012.

The daylong event will start with a tour of the John Deere Plant near Grovetown, GA in the morning followed by a tour of Titan Farms (vegetables and peaches) near Ridge Spring, SC in the afternoon. Lunch will be provided at Juniper Restaurant in Ridge Spring. Tour participants for the John Deere Plant must be at least 13 years old and also must wear closed-toe and closed-heel shoes during the tour. No cameras, camcorders or cell phones are permitted while touring the John Deere Plant.

Participant check-in will be at 7:45 a.m. at the South Carolina Farm Bureau, 724 Knox Abbott Drive, Cayce, S.C. The bus will depart at 8:15 a.m. and return to the Farm Bureau building by 5:00 p.m. Tour participants are asked to park behind the Farm Bureau Building in the parking lot across the street.

Itinerary:

7:45 AM Check in at Farm Bureau (724 Knox Abbott Drive, Cayce, SC.)

8:15 AM Leave Farm Bureau

9:15 AM Arrive at John Deere plant (234 John Deere Parkway, Grovetown, GA)

11:30 AM Leave John Deere Plant

12:00 PM Arrive in Ridge Springs, SC

12:00 PM Lunch at Juniper Restaurant ( 640 East Main Street, Ridge Spring, SC 29129)

And visit local shops

1:30 PM Leave Juniper Restaurant

1:45 PM Arrive at Titan Farms (5 R. W. DuBose Road, Ridge Spring, SC 29129 )

3:30 PM Leave Titan Farms

5:00 PM Return to Farm Bureau (724 Knox Abbott Drive

Due to bus seating, the tour will be limited to 47 people, so PRE-REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED. The deadline to register is Friday, April 20, 2012. The tour is open to the public until the bus seating is filled, with priority given to Council members and their guests.

Cost of the tour is $35 for S.C. Agricultural Council members and their guests and $45 for non-members. Lunch, beverages, and snacks are included in the cost of the tour.

To reserve a space on the tour, send your name, phone number along with a check made payable to the South Carolina Agriculture Council and mail to: South Carolina Agriculture Council, P.O. Box 2683, Columbia, S.C. 29202-2683.
