Animal Research Minute - Could a cure for diabetes be on the horizon?

Well, according to CBS Denver, Colorado researchers have discovered a cure for Type 1 diabetes in mice and this discovery could lead to a cure for people too. In mice, scientists discovered a drug that attacks the T-cells, which are linked to Type 1 diabetes. Because mice and people have genetic similarities, this drug could have the same effects on human T-cells. With more research, people living with diabetes may no longer require insulin, but instead could take a pill to manage the disease.
