Animal Research Minute - Do you blame your dog when he doesn’t obey?

Well, according to Science magazine, a new study reveals that a dog’s genes could actually determine whether or not he obeys you. After assessing 104 dogs’ ability to obey commands and control their impulses, researchers concluded dogs’ DNA is linked to the ability to focus and remain in control. German Shepherds, which have shortened versions of a certain gene, had the most difficulty controlling their impulses. Breeds with longer versions of the same gene, however, are very calm and controlled. So it seems the reason your dog misbehaves could be in his genes.
