Well, Voice of America reports scientists studying mice have identified genetic flaws that may cause autism. Researchers bred mice to have the mouse-version of autism and noticed that the mice and people with autism had genetic similarities. This finding is helping scientists to better understand which regions of the brains are affected by autism and how to develop therapies to treat it. This research with mice is helping scientists unlock the mysteries behind the causes of autism so they can effectively help children with the neurological disorder.
