Animal Research Minute - Did you know that, on average, 1 in 4 liver transplants are rejected?

Well, Western Australia Today reports researchers are studying mice so they can discover how to reduce the rate of liver transplant rejections. Scientists found that transplanted livers in lab mice became independent and essentially started destroying the body’s immune cells, called T cells. This important discovery could lead scientists to develop ways to prevent liver transplant rejection, thereby helping people with hepatitis and other chronic liver diseases.
