Well, researchers from Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and the Scripps Research Institute have created new diabetes drugs that seem to treat diabetes without the dangerous side effects some of the current diabetes medications carry. They developed the drugs by studying mice with the mouse-version of diabetes. One of the new drugs kept diabetes symptoms under control in mice without triggering weight gain or fluid retention - potential side effects of some current diabetes treatments. This research could lead to safer medications for Type 2 diabetes, which affects more than 25 million children and adults in the United States.
