As much as we hear about the EPA overstepping its job description... and as many times as we've worried about dust, run off, spills, etc. etc. etc. This time, the shoe is on the other foot... The EPA wants some help!
The Challenge:
The EPA is challenging app developers to look at EPA data and come up with the best, most useful, innovative way to use, show, or combine publically available EPA data in an app.
"In short, we'd like you to take EPA data and show us what you can do. We are leaving it wide open for you to be creative. We are not specifying exactly what kind of app we are looking for or what it needs to do - other than be creative and innovative, widely useful, and use EPA data fairly and consistently to address health or environmental problems."
The registration, full description of the challenge, the important dates, criteria and rules are all spelled out very, very clearly... at length... in detail... on a website. Just click here and begin dreaming of a trip to D.C.
The challenge deadline is September 16, 2011... The winners will be honored at a recognition event in Washington, D.C. this fall and the winning apps will be publicized on EPA’s website.
