Following a third party review, The National Cattlemen's Beef Association has agreed to repay the Cattlemen's Beef Board nearly 217- thousand dollars to clear up spending discrepancies and accounting errors that occurred during fiscal years 2008 and 2009, and the first five months of fiscal 2010.

In a statement, Forrest Roberts, NCBA's CEO, says the cattle industry - understands the importance of compliance with the financial firewall - that ensures checkoff funds don't support lobbying activities. Roberts says - NCBA is now following new USDA-approved guidelines to minimize mistakes.

He adds - it's time to get this review behind us and continue to focus on the business of building a sustainable future for the U.S. beef industry
