The Obama Administration has a goal to double exports within five years. Ag Secretary Tom Vilsack says this goal is more like a standard…
“I think it’s an economy wide standard, and goal and I think there are opportunities around the world for us to significantly, ‘us’ meaning the entire US government and the various parts of our economy to significantly increase export opportunities.”
Though agriculture exports may not actually double in five years - the goal is for exports as a whole. Vilsack says the demand for U.S. ag products will remain strong - considering ag exports did double in 10 years.
This year has been the second best year on record for U.S. ag exports - and USDA does expect to see exports continue to increase. |
