Well, according to the Daily Telegraph, a new blood test could help diagnose Alzheimer’s disease in its very early stages. It seems a certain protein is elevated in blood years before a person even develops symptoms of Alzheimer’s. Scientists studied mice and found this protein is associated with age and is linked to a buildup of plaque in the brain, which scientists believe causes Alzheimer’s disease. More research is needed, but earlier detection of Alzheimer’s disease would enable people to receive treatments early on to minimize the impact of the disease.
