Well, according to the Los Angeles Times, a certain strain of the flu called H3N8 infects dogs. Dogs haven’t built up a resistance to this new canine flu so they are especially prone to catching it. In fact, the U.S. Department of Agriculture reports there are 33 states with influenza outbreaks among dogs.
But there is good some news -- a newly approved flu vaccine for dogs called Nobivac that protects dogs against this new flu strain. The vaccine was tested in more than 700 dogs and was found to be very safe and effective. This is the first-ever flu vaccine for dogs.
