The South Carolina Ag Council is a group of ag producers, agribusiness professionals, and anyone that’s interested in agriculture in the State of South Carolina. Steve Slice, Sec/Treasury of the South Carolina Agricultural Council:
“Any body that’s interested in agriculture, and learning about agriculture, and staying on the cutting edge of topics in agriculture and agriculture professionals. We just try to stay on top of cutting-edge technology. So, it’ would be anybody that’s interested in agriculture, whether it’s the public or professionals, probably have more professional agriculture people than we do the public, but we encourage anybody to attend the meetings and participate.”
The Council holds their meetings quarterly at the South Carolina Farm Bureau office in Cayce. The next meeting is scheduled for May 17th from 10:00 am until noon.
But, in the near term, the Council will be hosting their Spring Ag Tour, Slice explains:
“April 24th, and they’re going to meet at the Farm Bureau in Cayce, and we’re going to take a buss over to the John Deere plant in Augusta, and take a tour of their facility in the morning. And when we’re through with the John Deere plant in the morning, we’re going to head over to Ridge Spring, South Carolina and have lunch at Juniper, and after that we’re going to visit Titan Farms, I think it’s the largest peach farm in South Carolina, and possibly the largest peach farm in the United States, and I think they also grow vegetables. Then we’ll head back to Farm Bureau, should get back about 5:00 o’clock.”

Transportation seating for the tour is limited, and offered on a first-come, first-served basis. The cost is $35 for members of the Council and $45 for non-members. Lunch, beverages, and snacks are included in the cost.
