AFBF Public Policy Director Discusses How Election Results Could Impact Agriculture
With shake ups expected during the mid-term elections this November - Mary Kay Thatcher - Director of Public Policy at the American Farm Bureau Federation - explains what that could mean for America’s farmers…
“If we really get upwards of 80 new people in the House of Representatives through defeats, and people quitting the house to run for the senate or just deciding to retire, etc. we’re going to have a lot of new people to educate about our issues. So, while we always have a turn-over it looks like we’re going to have a lot more new members in congress, and therefore a lot more work to do.
Now, the good news about that, is hopefully our people are out in the country and they’re out there talking to these people and explaining the issues to them, and making sure that the people that we support in this election will be supportive of agriculture in the future.”
