Season of Soybean Rust Begins
 

Soybean rust has been confirmed for the first time this season in the United States. This confirmation comes from a soybean field in Hidalgo County, Texas- near the Mexican border. Rust was confirmed earlier this year on soybeans in the neighboring Mexican state of Tamaulipas.

The Other White Meat Marketing Campaign
 

During World Pork Expo - the Pork Checkoff updated information on the evolution of the pork brand. There have been some misleading media reports about The Other White Meat advertising campaign. Ceci Snyder - Pork Checkoff Vice President of Domestic Marketing - says the longtime marketing slogan will be protected.

Cuban Leaders Say Pass Restrictions Legislation
 

More than 70 pro-democracy Cuban leaders have sent a letter to House Agriculture Committee Chairman Collin Peterson that strongly encourages passage of H.R. 4645, the Travel Restriction Reform and Export Enhancement Act introduced by Peterson. The act would facilitate expanded U.S. agricultural trade with Cuba and allow Americans to travel more freely to Cuba.

NC's Farm to School Program a Success

North Carolina's Ag Commissioner Steve Troxler says that the 2009-10 school year showed a marked increase in the state's Farm to School Program administered by the NC Department of Agriculture & Consumer Services.
