Animal Research Minute - Could a new cancer surgery help dogs and people?

Well, according to The Battalion veterinarians at Texas A&M may have discovered a new surgical
technique that could help dogs with osteosarcoma, a cancer which is fatal in dogs 90 percent of the
time. The veterinarians injected a radioactive liquid directly in dogs’ tumors. This liquid destroyed large
parts of the tumor and helped dogs avoid amputation, the standard treatment for this cancer. This
revolutionary research is helping dogs now and could one day be available for people with
osteosarcoma too.
