Recently, in Memphis, Tennessee, Monsanto held a press conference announcing the 2012 Roundup Ready Plus Program for the southern and southeastern United States. Monsanto has partnered with several companies to incorporate their herbicide technology, along with Monsanto’s Roundup, in the war against glyphosate resistant weeds in soybeans and cotton.

Dave Rhylander is DeltaPine Marketing Manager for Monsanto:

"What we're doing is we're looking at this as an industry effort to try to control these pigweeds and so we think the more companies that are involved in it;   we've got FMC, Baylen, Sygenta, ourselves...because  we all have herbicide programs that are very important for these farmers to get control of these pigweeds with, whether it's the residuals or whether it's the post-emergent progducts."

FMC Corporation’s US Technical Manager, Bob Hooten, explains that FMC’s Authority Line will be a part of the 2012 program:

"We started it last year with our Authority product line.  There's a lot of resistance issues that are occuring with glyphosates.  The Authority Product line is very, very strong on the Palmer amaranth - which is a major problem here in the south; t-weed - which is a problem; morning glories -  which are a problem.  And we partnered with them last year, we're going to continue this year.  We have four different Authority products which actually fit in this geography."

Patrick Ewen, Customer Marketing Mgr, Southern Commercial Unit for Syngenta discusses their offerings in the program for soybeans:

"From a soybean perspective, we've added Flex-star which is in our firmesaphin brand family - which has been market leading in terms of resistant pigweed control.  So we're glad that we not only do we get the product in the offer from Monsanto but they as well as Sygenta and the growers value what the product brings to the market."

Frank Carey, Valent USA Corp, Field Market Development Specialist says that Valent has an addition to the Rewards Program lineup:

"Valent  is excited to have several products involved in the Round Up Ready Plus system. The entire Valor family line of Valor, Valor Excelled and gangster  are all three apart of the program as well as new and exciting to have Cobra in there."
