Animal Research Minute – What could horses teach us about asthma?

Well, according to WAMU, vets at Virginia Tech are studying horses to better understand treatments for asthma. Horses can have a condition called equine heaves, which is very similar to human asthma. Researchers are studying horses to better understand the causes of this respiratory condition and how to best treat it. By studying horses, scientists hope to discover which treatments are best for both human asthma and equine heaves. This research with horses has the potential to help both man and horse.
