Animal Research Minute – Research into Salmonella Infections
Did you know there are nearly 1.5 million cases of salmonella in the United States every year?
Well, according to the Daily Democrat, researchers are developing a vaccine for salmonella, food-borne bacteria that are increasingly resistant to antibiotics. Researchers working with mice and blood serum from people identified eight antigens that could help them develop an effective vaccine to prevent salmonella infection. This research has the potential to help the hundreds of thousands of people around the world who die each year from salmonella.
