Animal Research Minute – Did you know if you’re counting calories to lose weight, you will only get so far?

Well, according to new research from the FASEB Journal, scientists discovered a gene that is responsible for our internal body clocks has been linked to excessive weight gain and related health problems. In studies with mice, scientists found when mice lacked this gene they became obese and hyperglycemic, even when they ate the same quantity of food as normal mice. This study provides new insights into prevention of and treatments for obesity.
