Well, scientists at the University of California San Francisco have developed a new technology that is illuminating breast cancer and potential ways to treat it. In studies with mice, scientists used the new technology to see how the immune system can often fail to fight breast cancer tumors. It seems, our immune cells recognize the threat of the cancerous tumors, but fail to attack the cancerous cells directly. This incredible insight could help scientists develop ways to activate our immune systems to fight breast cancer.
