A native of the Texas Panhandle, Rhonda was born and raised on a cotton farm where
she saw cotton farming evolve from ditch irrigation to center pivot irrigation and
harvest trailers to modules. After graduating from Texas Tech University,
she got her start in radio with KGNC News Talk 710 in Amarillo, Texas.
As a member of National Association
of Farm Broadcasters, Rhonda has traveled coast to coast as a farm broadcaster,
attending major conventions on cotton, cattle, soybeans, corn and wheat, as well
as visiting the trading floors of the Chicago Board of Trade, and the Chicago Mercantile
Exchange.
Rhonda joined Southern Farm Network in July of 2007 and became an immediate “old
timer.” Seems the Carolinas and Texas agribusiness community needs are much
the same. Great programs presented in a professional, yet personal manner.
Most recently, Rhonda received an Excellence In Ag Reporting Award
from the National Association of Farm Broadcasters for news stories she reported
late last winter about salmonella in peanut production. The award was presented
at NAFB's National Convention in Kansas City during November 2009.
