May Day begins Strawberry Month in NC

Governor Perdue has declared May in North Carolina as "Strawberry Month".  NC boasts many accolades in the strawberry fields:

  • 20.4 million dollars in 2010 farm income
  • 1,500 acres harvested in 2010 strawberry production ranks NC third in the nation
  • NC ranks as a leader in strawberry research  (see our research story...)
  • and last but not least -- Strawberry picking is family fun!
