2017 Census of Agriculture

2017 is a Census of Agriculture year, the census is conducted every five years by USDA’s National Ag Statistics Service.

The year, the census will include a question about farmers who are active-duty or military veterans.  USDA’s goal is to better understand whether farming has become a viable career path for our nation’s service men and women.

The census will also ask about direct-to-consumer sales, and feature an improved online questionnaire.

While filling out the census online is encouraged, hard copies will be mailed in late November.
